Lace Frames Freebie

I didn’t want to leave you all hanging … especially since I wasn’t going to post this week’s entry on my blog when the link expired in the STS Designer Darling’s forum.

I took a quick look through my past freebies and noticed one of your favorite freebies (based on the number of downloads) is my frames. SO, I made you some new frames … nice lacy ones. Like always, click on the preview to download them … AND, if you’ve actually been able to set up an account on the Stuff to Scrap forum (seems to be a common theme … folks are still having issues getting registered), think about voting for me. ;-)

On another note, I just passed the 100 likes on my Facebook page and figured a Facebook freebie was needed especially since I now know how to provide one (special thanks to Piccolina Designs for her tutorial on how to do this — http://bit.ly/IC0M0N).

The only problem is that I am clueless right now as to what to make and would really love your help. What would you like to see??? I would love to hear from you — even if it’s only a theme, color palette, or element suggestion. Just comment below or send me a note.

HUGS!!! Jill

Round Three Kit – Designer’s Resources Sampler

Needless to say, I’ve been a bit distracted with the pirate. Fortunately, it didn’t interfere with my creativity, just my posting.

For Round 3 of the Designer Darling contest, we were to create a 3 item sampler of items we had extracted. As you can see below, I did a flower and leaf (cluster, cluster, cluster) and a Peruvian pan flute (thanks to Dona of This’n'That by Donakat for reminding me what it was called).

You can download this from my forum post — http://bit.ly/11UhpxS. However, this time I’m doing things  bit differently. This will only be available from the forum post and the link will expire on Sunday. I will not be re-posting this here on the blog because it is a Commercial Use item. I do plan on using these items in one of my future kits … just don’t know when that kit will be available.

To make it up to you, I’ll try to think of something else to bribe you with to get your vote AND thank you all again for all your comments, support, and votes!!!

Dear Pirate — Why???

Now, I may ask you to register for my site to download my kits … but my freebies are free for all. Why do you find it necessary to post my freebies under your user id for download from sites such as http://www.lightpic.net??? Some say I should feel privileged that my work is good enough to be “pirated” … o.k. … I refuse to swear (on my blog) … but the initials of what I want to say regarding this statement is B.S.

Because I do ask you to be a registered member of my blog to download my kits, I now know you are a registered user. I will eventually figure out who you are and will share your name with the world. You should be ashamed of yourself, but I know you aren’t. My years spent working in leading edge computer and web technologies (I started using HTML before the first book was published) gives me a pretty good idea of the type of person you are.

To the rest of you, who are not pirates, all I can ask is that you not use sites such as http://www.lightpic.net and others who provide a platform for the pirates of this world. They are the creeps who provide downloads of items (scrap kits and other copyrighted files) that are the property of others, for free, without the individual at least getting credit or financial compensation for creating the content.

In my case, I already provide all my items for free, so it’s mostly an irritant; however, these people provide downloads of content that a designer (copyright owner) only earns pennys on the dollar when you purchase it legitimately. Those pennys are often the designer’s only source of income. When you download this sort of content without paying for it, you are no better than the pirates that make this content available … you are a thief.

Enough ranting … preaching … whatever …  for now. I need to redirect my thoughts towards the hundreds of you who would never do this and, in addition, leave wonderfully, supporting comments that truly make my day.  I currently have 490 registered users and I’m sure that 489 of you are legit. Please help me to keep it this way.

However, if you see anything that I provide for download from a site other than my blog (unless I’ve mentioned it … like the current Designer Darling Contest), please let me know. In fact, if you see anything by others posted on these illegitimate sites, let me know. I am somewhat fortunate that I’m retired AND have the skills/knowledge/time to deal with this kind of stuff … and I will. I only need your help. Just picture that dog that gets hold of something that it refuses to let go of … that’s me … especially when I’m … not happy (actually, the initials are P.O.)

Southwestern Venture – Add-on Elements

Well, I finally completed a layout I liked with my Southwestern  Venture from  Round 2 of the Designer Darling contest. And, as is typically with me, I felt the need to for more stuff, which can be downloaded by clicking the preview below (the background paper is part of my solids freebie from yesterday’s post).

This is the layout I created which has pieces from the mini, solid paper stock and the add-on above. The photo was taken during our family road trip to Arizona last year.

I still owe you all some borders and will get them uploaded as soon as I actually make them.

Also, if you have the time, I’d love it if you could vote for me (once the poll is set up). It should be up soon and can be found in this area of the forum — http://bit.ly/11IWNIS.

Round Two Kit – Southwestern Venture

I’ve just now finished my Round 2 kit for the Designer Darling contest. I did a southwestern theme … been wanting to do one of those for a while, so this was the perfect opportunity to do one. I gave it the name Southwestern Venture since the inspiration was based on Deanna’s (Flower Scrap’s) trip to the Scrapbooking Expo last fall.

Like the last one, for the first week you have to download it from my forum post – http://bit.ly/12ADNXO. Also, it turns out this is partially a “voting” contest. If you have the inclination to sign up for their forum and vote for me I would be ecstatic. My preview for the kit is below and I would LOVE to hear what you think about it.

And, while I did so a partial layout with this kit, it’s nothing I want to show off just yet. HOWEVER, I have a freebie for you that you can download by clicking on the preview below.

I realize not everybody likes to work with BOLD papers, so I made some simpler, solid ones. I also plan on making some borders to go with the kit, so be sure to check back tomorrow for those.

Here Comes the Sun – Leftovers and More

As promised, freebies to go along with my Round 1 kit – Here Comes the Sun. All but the cluster were items I had made for the kit, but didn’t make the cut (there was a finite number of items you could put into a kit). If you haven’t learned the routine yet … just click on the preview to download.

jilbert_HereComesTheSun_leftovers_preview

If you haven’t had a chance to visit the preview gallery for the Designer Darling contest, please do it soon. There are a LOT of freebies for you to download, but the links will only be good for about a week … and remember to leave a lot of love … especially for mine … LOL! … it’s called marketing, right?

Round One Kit – Here Comes the Sun

Well, I finished it and I really like how it came out. I wasn’t real thrilled with the color palette, but it looks a LOT better once you make something with it. Check out the preview:
jilbert_HereComesTheSun_preview

It’s a Mini Kit that contains 8 papers (4 patterns and 4 solids) and 15 elements. I called it Here Comes the Sun. It reminded me of that hint of blue sky behind the whitish-gray clouds and the sun just wanting to show off its light. Not quite Spring, but a small promise of what’s to come.

AND, as I learned, I did a layout with it. I managed to use every item in the kit except for the white frame. Check it out:

jilbert_HereComesTheSun_layout

To download this kit, you need to go to my forum post for the contest — http://bit.ly/WMYboY. This is only for a week; I will then move it over to this site and update my post. If you have time, I’d love to hear what you think. Also, check back tomorrow for some freebies to go with this kit … and those you will be able to download here.

The above kit is now available, for registered users, by clicking on the preview above.
