Southwestern Venture – Add-on Elements
Well, I finally completed a layout I liked with my Southwestern Venture from Round 2 of the Designer Darling contest. And, as is typically with me, I felt the need to for more stuff, which can be downloaded by clicking the preview below (the background paper is part of my solids freebie from yesterday’s post).
This is the layout I created which has pieces from the mini, solid paper stock and the add-on above. The photo was taken during our family road trip to Arizona last year.
I still owe you all some borders and will get them uploaded as soon as I actually make them.

First off, thanks for the downloads. This will be a fun kit to play with….I live in the ‘SouthWest Desert’ so I can think of plenty of photos to use this with.
I was surprised by your choice of purple in the palate, but looking at your layout you made, it works well. It gives the kit a royal fell to it as well.
I browsed the week 2 contest thread. Looks like this will be a tough voting week. There are so many different kits. I love your ‘travel/souvenir’ type elements. I can see my Zuni, NM page already with them. I’ll have to bookmark your page, so I don’t forget to vote for you. Good Luck!
I was surprised with the purple too … but my inspiration for “fine tuning” my color palette was the gorgeous fruit of the prickly pear cactus. Our neighbor had one growing in his yard for years (which the new owners sadly replaced with a metal shed). I also spent a lot of time in Albuquerque, New Mexico for work, so I guess this is kind of like my tribute to the area and especially the wonderful people.

Thank you for your wonderful SW kit!!! I LOVE it! I live in NM and our mountains turn purple in the summer sunsets… really! Can’t wait to get home and have time to play with this mini. Thanks for all the additional pieces. Now off to vote for my favorite – hint, this is the only kit I picked up
I retired from Sandia National Laboratories after 35 years. Although I worked at the California Site, I spent quite a bit of time in Albuquerque with a few side trips to Los Alamos. While I don’t miss work, I do miss my trips to New Mexico. I also remember those brilliant sunsets … but I also loved the sunrise.
